RETT SYNDROME AWARENESS BLOG HOP

Happy Saturday
and
Welcome to this year's Blog Hop for...
Rett Syndrome Awareness

In this hop we will be showing you many Disney themed projects while sharing with you about
Rett Syndrome.
If you have just stopped by my blog to visit with me, thank you and welcome, but please start at the beginning of the hop with our
Hostess, Robin from
Create-A-Latte.
We would not want you to miss any of these wonderful projects.

So, grab yourself a Latte', sit back and hop along with us as we share our projects with you.

Rett Syndrome strikes without warning. A girl with Rett Syndrome usually starts out as a happy and healthy baby. Then something goes terribly wrong. She loses the ability to speak, she can't use her hands to play with toys, or to even feed herself, and she may lose the ability to walk.

Despite their physical disabilities, girls with Rett Syndrome are believed to be functioning mentally at a much higher level than previously thought.
Rett Syndrome is caused by a mutation of the MECP2  gene on the X chromosome.

Rett Syndrome is found in all racial and ethnic groups throughout the world, and in every socioeconomic class.
Rett  Syndrome affects in 15,000 female births.

*Symptoms of Rett Syndrome...

Rett Syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder that affects girls between 6 and 18 months of age.
This regressive disease leads to lifelong handicaps, including loss of speech and voluntary muscle control, and is often misdiagnosed as Cerebral Palsy or Autism. Symptoms range from mild to severe, and almost always include...
*Developmental Regression or Plateau
*Near constant hand clasping or wringing
*Severe communication impairment
*Breathing problems
*Digestive issues
*Floppy arms and legs
*If able to walk, then with a shaky, unsteady gait, or toe-walking. But most do end up using a wheelchair for the most part.
*Scoliosis
*Seizures
*Slowing head growth
*Abnormal sleep patterns
*Transient loss of social engagement
*Poor circulation that can lead to cold and bluish arms and legs
*Anxiety

Many individuals with Rett Syndrome live well into adulthood, although there are some that do not get that chance and end up losing their battle to Rett Syndrome at a very early age.
Most people including Doctors are not aware of Rett Syndrome, so, please help me get the word out about Rett Syndrome and hopefully the more that know the faster we can help in finding a cure.

To make a long story short, I found this cute Mickey Mouse SVG on line and thought I would cut it out with my Cameo. I was have a hard time getting stuff worked out so I thought I would take a different approach and just use the silhouette. I sprayed  Glimmer Mist on my Mickey in two different colors. Sorry you can't see the shimmer better in the picture. This is a simple and straight forward birthday card that could be used for a boy or girl. Thanks for stopping by today.

I'm last in line today so I would like to thank you for hopping along with us today, I hope that you have learned something about Rett Syndrome and that you will help spread the word so that we can make as many people aware of this as possible. I also hope that we have inspired you to get your craft on.

If you get lost along the way here is the entire line up for today's Blog Hop.

More Bumblebees and sunflowers

Hi all! Today I am sticking to my fall sunflower and bumble bee theme by using the sunflower and bee swirl border ID #46802

This cutting file is so useful because it works at different sizes without needing a lot of extra embellishments. I used it on an A2 card but you could use it on a 5 x 7 card or the corner of a fall scrapbook layout.

Have a great creative day! Jearise from Lorby's World

Look what's going on at Snapdragon Snippets.

Don't forget about our September challenge going on now! Get creative with our files and link up here September Fall Contest with Snapdragon Snippets and SVG Attic.

Do you like working with cutting files? Are you a big fan of Snapdragon Snippets? If so, Snapdragon Snippet is having a design team call. You can get all the information here: Snapdragon Snippets Design Team Entries are due no later then September 21st with new design team being announced on September 24th.

BZZ BZZ on a fall Sunflower for Snapdragon Snippet

How is everyone doing this fine fall day? I hope you've gotten some fall crafting done these past few weeks. The temperatures have gotten cooler and the sunflowers are in glorious full bloom which makes this 3D Sunflower Box ID #46801 irresistible.

I just love the way the top of this box is and that bee is the perfect buzzing addition.

I spritzed the box with my Glimmer Mist in Kiwi (I couldn't get a good picture of the glitter mist on the box.) before adding the layers to the top. I also used a paperclip that I twisted with my jewelry making tools to uplift that adorable little bumblebee.

This is a great little box to fill with goodies for a teacher, family friend or relative!

Snapdragon Snippets and SVG Attic September Challenge

Our challenge this month is FALL (can include Back to School and Halloween). This is a month long challenge and you can make anything that strikes your fancy with a FALL or Back to School or Halloween theme as long as you use files from Snapdragon Snippets and/or SVG Attic.

I have some inspiration for you today using the harvest corner and block vinyl or stencil Design ID #50618

I was shopping at the craft store two weeks ago and came across a lot of cork products including round and square drink coasters. I've been wanting to get some fall coasters but when I saw the cork, I knew I had to make my own using the HARVEST CORNER AND BLOCK VINYL OR STENCIL cutout from Snapdragon Snippets.

These are very simple to make.

1. Pick out your contrasting papers. I used Graphic 45 for my choices.

2. After cutting the square design out to fit the coaster, I used a corner punch to round the corners.

3. Mod Podge the background on and let it dry.

4. Mod Podge and piece the HARVEST CORNER AND BLOCK VINYL OR STENCIL on and let it dry.

5. Mod Podge over the entire coaster to make sure all pieces including the edges are secure.

6. Use a water sealant to seal your work.

***I made four of these and it took me less then an hour to cut out all the pieces and assemble. I let the Mod Podge dry overnight before adding the sealant.

Camping Themed Layouts

What a wonderful Back to School Blog Hop this past weekend! I had so much fun making my creations for that hop and sharing them with all our Snapdragon Snippet fans. You are wonderful!!!

Now it is time to move on and show you what I've been up to when I wasn't creating from the Back to School Blog Hop. We went camping in Nebraska in July and we had such a great time. I took lots and lots and lots of pictures and now comes the time to scrap them. Thanks to all the wonderful Snapdragon Snippet camping/summer/bbq cutting files, I was able to put together this double page layout to keep some of my captured memories for years to come.

I used...
3 trees - Design ID #45226
compass - Design ID #45227

And here is the second page to my layout

 I used...

hot dog - Design ID # 19156
hamburger - Design ID #19154
flashlight - Design ID #45224
fire pit & roasting sticks - Design ID # 45222

I also had to show this adorable out house. I didn't use it on the above layouts but I loved it so much I had to cut it out and plan on using it on another layout I'm working on.

outhouse - Design ID #45225

Back to School Hop

Welcome to the SnapDragon Snippets/SVG Attic Back To School blog hop! We are super excited to have you join us! At each stop of the hop, you will be inspired by the creativity of each of Snapdragon Snippets and SVGAttic design team members.

If you happened across this post out of order, please head to the SVG Attic blog to start at the beginning of the hop.

Here are my projects for the hop:

I upcycled a Princles Potato chips can and turned it into a "teacher survival kit." Pop off the top and the can is full of different types of chocolates that the teacher can use to get her through the year or maybe just the first day.

a2 crayon card Design ID #31607 I used  for the crayons around the bottom of the can. I ungrouped the crayons to use.

The apple on top of my can came from the september dozen squares quilt block Design ID #42748

I also decided I needed a box full of yummies for the other teacher so I made the new cupcake box apple cutout Design ID #64475    I added acetate to the inside of the box to cover the apple window and then filled the box full of chocolate.

I used the teacher appreciation box card  Design ID #60420 to make a vintage looking box card. I didn't add the THANK YOU to it because the school year is just getting under way. I wanted to show how you can use this card at the beginning of the school year, during teacher appreciation week or even at the end of the school year.

Smore Fun

Summer is coming to a close but that only means it's time for camp fires and smores one last time. I have put together an 8 x 8 layout to help record those memories for years to come.

I used marshmallows Design ID #18793  for the marshmallows on sticks on the sides of this layout and I used s'mores phrases Design ID #18791 for the "smore fun" phrase.

The s'mores phrases has two cute phrases in the cutting file. The one I used on my project and the other phrase is just the connected work Smores.

I have to share a little secret before I leave. I want to show you a close up of the marshmallows I made.

I thought they looked pretty real on my layout and I wanted to share how I made them. I first cut out the file and then used some brown distress ink on them to give them that burnt look and finally I put white flocking on them. The pictures doesn't do them justice but take it from me, they look pretty real.

Happy camping and crafting!

Art Deco Tag for Cutters Creek

I love the Art Deco period but have trouble doing crafts that embody that time period of style so I challenged myself with this project.

I stamped the image on white card stock and then went to work adding Tim Holtz Distress Inks and using my alcohol markers. I like the way the frame around the woman pops and there is the vintage look I was going for so I am happy with the way this turned out.

Making of the tag:

1. Stamped image on X press blending card stock
2. Colored various parts of image with alcohol markers
3. Dab on different shaded of Tim Holtz Distress Ink
4. Spritz with water and let the colors blend
5. Add your bling! and adhere to your tag.

Products from Cutters Creek store are listed here:

Tim Holz distress ink pads in various colors

Zig 2 way glue pen

rhinestones (in flowers)

X Press Blending Paper for Copic markers

Graduation Card for Snapdragon Snippets

Even though the fireworks are gone along with the hometown parade, that doesn't mean that you can't keep using those cute star files from Snapdragon Snippets

I made this graduation card

using the Star Card Design ID #28777

I just grabbed some graduation themed paper and then cut out a graduation cap and it all came together. You could always use the graduate's school colors to complete this card as well. This is a very versatile cutting file and can be used for so many different occasions from birthdays to graduations to Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I have inspired you today.

Welcome Baby Card for Cutter's Creek

There are no up and coming babies that I know of in my family but I thought this Noah's ark stamp I have is so cute that I really needed to finally use it.

I first heat embossed the stamp with WOW embossing powder then I used my alcohol markers to color the stamp. I added some fun details such as clear glitter to the sheep and Noah's beard plus flocking to the waves. I brought everything together by layering my card front and adding a little yellow and white twine bow.

Items from Cutter's Creek Store

WOW embossing powder

Doodle Twine assortment pack - Boy

2 way Zig glue pen

Hope your day is filled with rainbows and sunshine. Jearise :)

3 fireworks birthday card becomes birthday card

Welcome to my post today for Snapdragon Snippet. This week the US celebrates it's independence with family BBQ's and fireworks and Snapdragon Snippets has lots of wonderful cards and decoration for the 4th including this card.

3 Fireworks Card  Design ID #28778

But you can continue to use these wonderful files even after the 4th. I used the 3 Fireworks Card file to make two different birthday cards to give you an idea how creative you can get with this great card design.

As you can see, just layering the different layers can give a totally different look to this very versatile file.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a safe and happy 4th of July! Jearise :)
