March Mustache Madness Blog Hop

Welcome to our March Mustache Madness Blog Hop hosted by me, Jearise from Lorby's World of Hops. Mustaches are all the craze now and we decided we needed to show off our mustachabilities through crafting and jump on the band wagon. We hope you enjoy all the fun and silly projects that have been made incorporating mustaches.

I have some cool mustache prizes to give away to one lucky winner. Just comment on my blog and become a follower or let me know if you are one already and you'll be in the drawing. How easy is that!

Now on to the mustaches and fun!

Here is the file I used to make my mustaches. I designed it as a svg file and if you would like it just let me know in your comment and add your email so I can send it to you.

I used a svg set I designed to make the paper ties and mustaches for my kids to have fun with.

The neighbor girl came over to play and she decided to join in the fun.

Even the dog got in on the fun.

If you would like to get in on future hops, you can join Lorby's World of Hops on Facebook.

Here is my inspiration for today.

This cute little fairy came from The Stamping Chef and I used chalk to color her clothing and to give the background a light blue tint. The half pearls come from Miriam's Crafting Supplies on Facebook.

DT Tuesday for My Life in Arts and Craft

Hello all!

I'm a little behind on St. Patrick's Day due to vacation time and away from my computer but I have to show off this adorable hat card I made.

The green burlap is from the My Life in Arts and Craft store. I folded over a piece to give it extra thickness and a fuller fringe. Here's a close up.
This is the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today and hugs from Lorby's World.

Lynne will be going through her stash and sending one lucky winner a surprise package to someone that remarks and gives bloggie love on each of the participants.

I had fun with both my celebrations and there are stories behind each one.

National Pig Day

I have always loved piglets and always wanted one as a child. I think it had to do something with my mother reading me the story of Charlotte's Web and then seeing the animated movie. I cried when Charlotte died and I felt so sad for little Wilbert. I still love pigs but reality set in as I grew up and they don't stay small and cute they get BIG so I'll just look at cute pictures of them and visit the pig barn at the local county fair now.

I used the Animal Kingdom Cartridge and my Cricut to make bookmarks for my youngest two children. They have to read at least 10 minutes every night and this is a nice way to mark their spots in the books they are reading since they are starting to read chapter books.

I used scraps and the bookmarks are reversible.
I cut the bookmark out twice, once backwards, so I could glue the paper together to make it stronger. I then cut my pink piggie a little bigger than the piggie that is part of the bookmark. I had to cut the tail off the piggie underneath so it wouldn't show through.

Now for my other fun project that was just perfect for me. I swear my oldest son invented this day - National Something on a Stick day.

When my eldest son was a teenager, he use to joke that instead of having hotdogs on a stick (corndogs) they should put chicken on a stick. It was our inside joke when we would go to eat so in honor of him and his 28th birthday that was February 20th, I designed and made him this special card.

I made this picture large so you could read the outside of the card and after I finished the card I discovered I made a mistake. Can you find it? Oh well, just one more thing for us to laugh at.

Now the inside...
I created the chicken file and cut it out with my Eclips.

Your next stop along the way of the calendar is Lynne. Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on April 13, 2013, for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

Scrappy Frogs Green Challenge

It is time for a new challenge at Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog. This month is honoring St. Patrick's Day. The one day a year that EVERYONE is Irish. Scrappy Frogs is challenging you to make a project using Green!

Here is a little inspiration from me...

This is a card I made using the file 4 Leaf Clover Trio Card from The Cutting Cafe. The green jute is from My Life in Arts N Crafts.

Thank you for stopping by today and hugs from Lorby.

This has been entered at the Craftin Desert Divas linky party Craft it up and Link it up Linky Party.

My Life in Arts N Crafts DT Tuesdays

Hi all,

I have to be honest. I was going to do a popper but then changed my mine totally and decided to do a St. Patrick's Day banner instead. I did a mini banner and love how it turned out!

The plaid paper on the shamrocks is actually some Christmas paper scraps that I had left over from a Christmas project. I love the paper so much that I just had to find something else to use it on. It's so versatile. I went from Christmas to St. Patty's Day with it.

I used green and white twine for the stringing and I used natural colored jute for the buttons in the middle of each shamrock.

The jute and the twine work perfectly on this project that I can't decide if I want to keep it and hang it up here at the house or take it to the elementary school to decorate the teacher's lounge? Hmm, tough one there.

Anyway, stop by My Life In Arts N Crafts Etsy Store to see the jute and twine I featured in my craft and to see the many more colors of twine and jute plus all the many extras to get your creative juices flowing.

Hugs from Lorby's World.

Chalk N Stock Project - March Challenge

Good Monday morning crafting friends!

I would like to share with you today a St. Patrick's Day card I made for my Chalk N Stock design team. I love, love, love using chalks in my coloring and keep finding more and more ways to use them.

I used cream chalk to color my elephant on this card. I like the variation in greys on his body and pinks in his ears. I also used alcohol markers for his toes, the bird, clovers, and pot of gold.  Here are a few other views of the card.
The challenge at Chalk N Stock starts today and goes until the 28th so you have plenty of time to use chalk on any project since our theme is "Anything Goes."  Digital stamp courtesy of Bugaboo Stamps who also is the official sponsor of the monthly Chalk N Stock challenge.

I knew what I was going to do until starting putting paper away today and then I found a frame kit I bought from Oriental Trading a few years back that needed to get done so I totally change what I had planned but I like what I came up in the end.

Here is what came in the frame kit.
I decided to add paper to it using Mod Podge. The paper I chose was from DCWV.
1. I traced the frame on the back of paper leaving enough on the side to wrap around the edges of the framed. I also left extra in the middle section to wrap around the inside.

2. Cut the corners like the picture so they wrap around without tearing. I forgot to do that on the inside and had a little rip. I'll show you in a minute.

3. Use Mod Podge to glue the paper to the frame and then use a bray to roll out the paper so you get rid of any air bubbles. You can see that I used the bray on the lower part of the frame but hadn't use it on the top yet in this photo.
4. Here is the frame with all the paper glued on.  You can see the small tear in the lower left corner. I turned this frame around and that became the top right corner so I could cover it with my embellishments.

I decided to use Distress Ink on the paper to give it a more rustic look.

Ta Da...The final project with embellishments.

I used green jute from My Life in Arts N Crafts to use in the buttons and the bow.
